SPC Caleb J Hester

SPC Caleb J. Hester

 

Specialist Caleb J. Hester died December 17, 2008, in Savannah, Georgia.

Specialist Hester was born December 12, 1986. Specialist Hester joined the Army on September 14, 2005 and attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After Basic Training, he attended Advanced individual Training as a Medium Helicopter Repairmen at Fort Eustis, Virginia then received orders to his first duty assignment at Camp Humphrey, Korea. In May of 2007, he left Korea and was assigned to the "Darkwings" of D Company, 3/160th SOAR (A) where he spent nine months as maintenance mechanic. In July 2008 he was assigned to the "Wardogs" of B Company, 3/160th SOAR (A) where he progressed to Basic Mission Qualified Crewchief.

Specialist Hester's military schools include the Warrior Leadership Course, the Airborne Course, the Combat Lifesavers Course, Survival Evasion Resistance Escape 9SERE) Level-C Course, the Basic Mission Qualification Course, the Special Operation Training Course, and the Combative Level 1 Course.

His awards and decorations include: the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Crewman Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. He was posthumously awarded the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Specialist Hester is survived by his parent's Dana and Cyndee Hester who reside in Atwater, CA.
