Jose L Reices was born August 21, 1959 in Miami, FL and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He married his childhood sweetheart, Magali, in 1977 and then joined the United States Army where he was stationed in FT Campbell, KY. He was a member of the elite Special Operation Aviation unit that became known as Task Force 160, later redesigned as the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment SOAR. Better known as Night Stalkers. Jose was a crew chief on the MH-6 aircraft. Jose was always dedicated and knowledgeable and made sure his aircraft was perfectly maintained.
Jose was an AMP licensed Helicopter Mechanic. In 1985 he left the military and moved his family to Jamaica Queens, NY. He went to acting school and appeared on television. In 1988 he started working for the United States Postal Service and retired in 2020. Jose had a passion for tools and loved fixing things. Jose loved playing the Bass and practiced Kung Fu as a member of Orlando’s Wah Lum Temple. Jose was a great man who loved helicopters with a passion. He was well known to his family and friends as the “Copter Doctor” and always loved to make everyone laugh with his jokes and funny antics. Jose was a hard worker who always put his family and his love for God first. Jose was a true soldier and fighter until his last breath.
Jose is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Magali; son, Joseph Reices and his wife Jessica; daughter Jessica Washington and her husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Josiah Pitter and Viviana Reices; siblings, Lillian Rodriguez, Elaine Reices Lopez, Arlene Diaz, Nereida Gonzalez, Vicky Hardiman and Anthony Reices.
